I would have been better served . . .

staying in bed all day. Honestly, what a whipping. I called a ton of people and send a ton of emails. My stupid phone went dead by the afternoon (I am supposed to have 8 hours of talk time, total crap.) I only talked to one or two people.

I have about 4 phone interviews planned for tomorrow. That means I have to pray that all goes well at school, and I can actually pull off talking on the phone all those different times. Sigh.

My goal was to get 4 of the bios done today . . . I got 0 done. I am ready to scream.

Alright, enough whining.

Thought for the day

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather, to skid in broadside thoroughly used-up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming:" WOW WHAT A RIDE!!!!"

I am working on the bio for one of the guys and this quote keeps popping up in my head. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to use it because it really describes this guy. Probably not. But it is good to have on my blog because I like the reminder that this is how I want to go.

At the rate I'm going I'm just going to arrive at the Terrell Mental Hospital this way. sigh.

Bday and such

Look at the pretty flowers that MB sent me for my bday. It was a really great day. I wore the tiarra all day. (Just can't be in a bad mood with a tiarra on my head) Turns out it was a good thing that I did because I got all the way to school and realized that I had forgotten my purse. So, I had to go all the way back home. Aren't the shoes cute? All of my kids got together and got them for me. The kids brought food all day, and I think I had happy bday sung to me a dozen times. How much fun is that??? Ok the next photo is this crazy topiary in a front yard on my way home. The first couple of times I saw it I totally thought it was a real dog in the front yard. I finally had to stop and get a picture. Sabrina and Buddy love to look out the front window. Sabrina will lay across the bench a lot and instead of actually being on the bench (as Buddy is in the photo) she has her back feet on the ground and her bod on the bench.

Today, Mom and I went to the opera. Porgy & Bess. It was ok, but I have to admit my stomach started getting itself in knots fairly quickly thinking about everything I needed to be doing for the real estate book. Seriously it is impossible for me to do anything not related to my real job or the real estate book without being wracked with guilt about what I should be doing.

Monday Night

I am so freaking tired. Last night I forgot that I shouldn't be taking Sudafed at night because it keeps me AWAKE. So, I got up this morning (notice I didn't say wake up, not a lot of sleep last night) and my eyes were totally red. We went to the plant, I think the girls had a really good time, took the tour, saw pages etc.

I got to meet with people on the real estate book too which was good.

Realized at the end of the day that I was getting a headache. Took a pill, got to the airport, took another pill. Still have an ugly headache. Misery. I don't think we get in until 9:30 or so . . . sigh.

It is funny, we got to the airport, hit the restroom and we all changed out of our boots, coats etc and changed into Dallas appropriate gear.

It was snowing on the way into the airport, so that gave us all a thrill.

A night in Topeka

Well, I managed to get to Kinko's before going to the airport to run copies of the real estate book for my meeting with the boys on Tuesday and to send a copy to M and D so that they can begin their proofreading : )

Got to the airport, girls all showed up, made it on the plane. Got to say, I'm not a fan of Southwest anymore. I just hate that free for all seating. I got through about 1/3 of the plane, when I realized that we were not going to be together. So I decided it was every man for himself. At that point, I just wanted to find a sit that was not in between two oversized people making the plane ride most uncomfortable. I was in the third row from the back. America is definitely eating a lot of biggie meals.

Got to Kansas City. Had to go to the bathroom. I'm racing along, pass the mens and go into the womens. Only problem, not the womens. It took my little wee brain a few seconds to realize I was in the mens restroom staring at the urinals and the back of some men. oops.

That was awkward. We then got a rental car and headed to Topeka. (Did I mention that when we got our luggage, I had to pause a moment to put on a fleece, a coat, socks and warm boots. It's a little cold here!

Got to the hotel, very nice, and Jostens had bags of goodies for the girls and I. How sweet is that? Then we met up with Vickie, customer service manager at the plant, and went to dinner at Outback Steak House.

Now the girls and I are watching Enchanted. We are supposed to go to the plant at 9am. Then back to Dallas at 8pm tomorrow night.

Happy Mardi Gras

Not that I am getting to celebrate even a little bit. I am working my keister off. I met with the boys today. I called Tread before meeting with them and he told me that I could have to the end of February and still get the book printed by the first of April. I cannot begin to describe how much of a relief that is. As long as I do one a day, and two on weekends, I can get it done.

I just finished today's so I remain on track.

I am taking my editors-in-chief to the Topeka printing plant Monday. (We are actually leaving Sunday afternoon and return late Monday.) I hired a pet sitter company to take care of the kids while I'm gone, so Lennie, Lonny what ever his name is, came by today and met the hellion and her little companion. On the plus side, he didn't run screaming from the house. That's a bonus.

Of course I was a dingdong and forgot to make a copy of my key, so I had to give him mine, then go make a copy of Emily's copy of my key. Geez.

Also, quick side note, I am totally congested and I think my lymphnode is swollen. I'm not feeling that great.

So, time for bed.

Dogs in Danger

Ok, so I took a break from writing at about 5pm to go across the street because a porch party had begun (Linda's big brother and family are in town). I came back home to find one of the pillows on the floor torn all to hell. I am so annoyed I can hardly stand it.

I have to work the Winter Benefit at the high school this evening. Sigh. Why do I get myself into doing these things.

I still have 37 bio's to write. I'm going to the opera tomorrow, so with any luck I'll get at least 2 more written tomorrow.

Monday I have a meeting with the widow of David Fox. Hooray!! If I get photos from her, then I'll be set and have all the photos I need. Well, mostly.

I have to stop writing because I'm depressing myself looking at my life in print. I have to finish this book.
